Introduction to Microsoft Publisher

This will be a basic explanation of how to use Microsoft Publisher to create publications.  With the information you should be able to complete the assigned project.

To start Microsoft Publisher Click on the Start button, click on all programs, click on Microsoft Office and from the list click on Microsoft Publisher.  The Microsoft Publisher window will open.


Microsoft Publisher has many different types of templates availably for the creation of documents. We will use the blank 8 1/2 X 11 template. Click on the blank 8 1/2 X 11 template to open the Publisher window.

Note the blue line around the edge of the paper, this indicates the safe printing area. When creating a document make sure that all of your infomation is inside of the lines.

To insert information on to a page click on the Insert tab. The following menu will appear.
