CIS 114 Project 6
Camera F-stop and Shutter Speed

In this project we will be looking at the effect that changing the F-stop and Shutter Speed has on the images (pictures) you take.  The images you take in this project will be used later when we work with applications that allow us to change images.  For this project I would like you to do the following.

1. Setup a shot that is best for a portrait.  Take a picture using the Portrait, Landscape and Sports Setting.

2. Setup a shot that is best for a landscape.  Take a picture using the Portrait, Landscape and Sports Setting.

3. Setup a shot that is best for a sports.  Take a picture using the Portrait, Landscape and Sports Setting.

For people who want to try working with the AT and AV modes do the following

4. Setup a shot that is best for a portrait. Set the camera on AT and run through the different f-stops the camera has.

5. Setup a shot that is best for a landscape. Set the camera on AT and run through the different f-stops the camera has.

6. Setup a shot that is best for a sports. Set the camera on AV and run through the different the following shutter speeds, 7/60, 1/125, 1/250, 1/500 and 1/1000.

Bring your camera to school and upload the images to the computer.  Using Picasa create a folder named Project 4 and transfer all of the uploaded files for this project to that folder.

If you want you can upload and copy the images at home and copy the folder you created to your USB drive and bring it to class.  Once you are in class you can copy that folder to the MY Pictures folder of the class computer.

This project is worth 35 points
