Preparing Pictures for Printing

In this project you will learn to prepare pictures for printing.  This involves cropping the picture to create the most pleasing effect.  Changing the contrast and color balance to correct exposure problems and add simple special effects.


1. Create a new folder in Picasa by choosing a single photo you feel will be a good candidate for printing and name the folder Preparing Pictures for Printing.


2. Choose 4 more photos and copy them to the Preparing Pictures for Printing folder.


3. Do the following with each of the photos you have chosen


Important: Remember to undo the cropping and application of auto contrast and auto color after you finish working on each photo.


Create a 4X6 cropped copy of each photo and name the file to indicate that it is a 4X6 crop of the original


Create a 8X10 cropped copy of each  photo and name the file to indicate that it is a 8X10 copy of the original.


Take each of the cropped photos you have done and apply auto contrast, if there is a difference between the original crop and the auto contrast correction make a copy and save the corrected photo.


Take each of the cropped photos you have done and apply auto color.  if there is a difference between the original crop and the auto color correction make a copy and save the corrected photo.


Take each of the cropped photos you have done and apply both auto contrast and auto color . if there is a difference between the original crop and the auto contrast and auto color correction make a copy and save the corrected photo.


Chose two of your original photos and try  some of the basic special effects included in Picasa.  When you get a pleasing result same a copy of the photo.


This project is worth 50 points
