Creating a website

OBJECTIVES: After completing this class, students will be able to build a website using HTML and/or a web design program (such as Kompozer)

Common mistakes made in Kompozer:

  • Don’t forget to name the home page “index”. (Title can be anything.)
  • Don’t forget to keep all web pages, images, etc. in same folder.
  • Remember to save before publishing.
  • Remember to publish secondary pages, not just the home page. If you don’t, you’ll get a “The page cannot be found “ message when you try you link to them.  Just publish the missing page and you’ll be OK.
  • Don’t forget the http:// in the URL.
  • Don’t forget to check the e-mail button for the e-mail link (Not the URL button).
