| This course introduces students to office and home-based business applications using word processing, spreadsheet, database, presentation graphics, and electronic mail applications. Integrating information within the applications is also included. | |
| Prerequisites : | (if any) Grade "C" or better in OAT 101 or OTS 100 or successful completion of placement test or concurrent enrollment in OAT 101 or OTS 100. |

| A. Student will read at least three articles from current office automation periodicals and summarize the major points on the computer with a maximum of 60% accuracy. Students will apply correct lahguage skills on all assignments (using proper spelling, punctuation, word usage, and grammar). | |
| B. Students will demonstrate knowledge of software shortcuts by completing an objective test with at least 60% accuracy for a minimum passing grade. | |
| C. Students covered will include operating systems, word processing, spreadsheets, database, presentation graphics, and electronic mail. | |

| Absences are strongly discouraged. If you are absent more than 4 times you may, at the instructors discretion, be dropped from the class. If the student knows that he or she will be absent from the class, it is the student's responsibility to notify the instructor and turn in all assignments. | |
| Pagers and cell phones must be turned off while in class. | |
| Assignments will recieve an A, B, C, D, or E grade. Grades will be weighted according to the difficulty of the assignments. | |

| General Information Regarding Files & Disks | |
| When you save a file that you open from drive C, you'll have to save it to another drive and give it a different filename. Always remember to select, File..... Save As. Then change the Save in list box to the location of your storage device. Type the new name in the File Name list box and click on Save Your textbook will tell you what filename to give each assignment. ( Please Note: If you forget to change to thedrive where your storage device is located when you save a file, you will be reminded that the file is read-only.) | |
