CIS 147 Syllabus |
Welcome to CIS 147 Internet Publishing. This course will introduce the basics of creating and publishing web sites on the Internet. The topics for this course include an introduction to the WWW, using text on a web page, creating links, graphics, creating lists, using tables, and an introduction to Cascading Style Sheets(CCS’s). You will create your own Web pages and sites and publish the Web site to the Internet.
For this class you will be using a freeware Web site creation program, Nvu. The directions for downloading this program are included at the beginning of the first lesson. There is no text book for this class, we will use resources found on the internet to learn and reinforce each of the topics in this class.
This course is laid out in four (4) Lessons;
Lesson 1: An introduction to Internet Publishing
Lesson 2: Using Text Effectively on Web Pages
Lesson 3: Graphics on Web Pages
Lesson 4: Using Tables on Web Pages
Your grade will be based on the successful completion of the assigned work for each lesson and the final exam which will be the production of a complete Web site. The table below shows the point totals and the grading scale.

Contacting Me and Office Hours
The best way to contact me is by e-mail. I check my e-mail accounts at least once a day.
I will have office hours every Wednesday from 11:00 am to 2:00 pm. My office is located in CIS 223 the computer networking lab. There are a number of other days I am on campus teaching other classes, it is possible to make an appointment around those classes but you must contact me for available times for appointments.
