Wait Lists

Students may place themselves on a waitlist for a section of a particular course until the published payment due date for pre-registered students. Placement on a wait list does not guarantee enrollment in a class. Students on waitlists are not registered for the class and will not be allowed to attend the class unless they are subsequently properly enrolled in the course.

Students may be moved from the wait list to the regular class roster, if other students drop the course. After eligible wait list students are moved into seats made available (on a first-come basis) due to drops for non-payment by pre-registered students, wait lists will be discontinued. Students who were not moved into classes must find alternative courses. Once wait lists are discontinued, students will only be able to register (in person or online) for sections with seats available.

Adding Students Over the Course Maximum

On occasion an instructor may want to open an additional seat for a full class to allow a student to enroll in the class. To do so, simply send an email to RegistrationMailbox@elgin.edu, with a copy also sent to Vicki Bethke (vbethke@elgin.edu). In the email, state which course and section you would like the seat added to, as well as the name and ID number for the student you would like to register over the course maximum.

To be clear, faculty are not required to add additional seats over the course maximum. This is completely at the discretion of the faculty member.
