About me
I received my AS degree from Joliet Junior College, then transferred to
University of St. Francis, which is also in Joliet. While I was
there, I participated in two summer research projects studying the
effects of prescribed prairie burns on spiders. After achieving a
BS in biology, I traveled to Normal, IL and attended Illinois State
University, where I received my MS. While there I did research in
Dr. Wade Nichol's lab studying the bacterial pathogen Haemophilus influenzae. For
my interests outside of academics, I am a martial arts instructor and
also drive a race car (67 camaro with a 454: runs 10.3 seconds elapsed
time in the quarter mile at almost 130 mph)
